Steve McBee is the founder and CEO of Huck Capital, a San Francisco-based investment platform financing and building the next generation of sustainable energy businesses.

Steve established Huck as a catalyst to accelerate the energy transition and help mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. Huck underwrites investments to growth returns and strict and verifiable ESG and carbon reduction targets. Huck plays across the value chain of consumer and commercial energy transition investments in distributed energy, software, and technology segments. Huck executives have deep sector, business and operating experience allowing for rich partnerships with our portfolio companies to drive growth and scale.

Prior to founding Huck Capital, Steve served as CEO of NRG Home, a consumer-facing energy business with $5.5 billion in revenue and $700 million in EBITDA serving over three million customers with conventional and distributed energy solutions.

NRG Home included one of the largest retail energy providers in the US deregulated energy market and a portfolio of green growth distributed energy businesses serving solar, EV, and energy efficiency markets.

Steve was also the founder and CEO of McBee Strategic Consulting, one of the largest and most diverse advisory platforms in Washington, DC, providing Fortune 500 and emerging growth clients with a wide range of advocacy, market research, digital, and strategic communications services. Steve sold McBee Strategic in 2014 to preeminent Washington-based law firm Wiley Rein.

Steve lives in San Francisco, CA and Sun Valley, ID with his wife and three sons, and is an avid snowboarder, mountain biker, and lover of all things outdoors.
